made my own pizza dough tonight and it was suuuuper easy and pretty tasty. found this easy recipe here. makes two crusts.
mix together:
- 1 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 tsp. active dry yeast (1/2 the package)
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
then add in:
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
stir until the dough comes together, then turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 min.). transfer to an oiled bowl and let rise for about an hour, covered with a damp cloth. divide the dough into two, then let each ball rise another 20 min. in its own oiled, covered bowl.
sprinkle your surface with cornmeal, then flatten, rotate, and stretch to about 12 in. top, bake at 500 for 8-10 minutes, eat. i topped mine with caramelized onion and sun dried tomato. chris did tomato and bell pepper.
the recipe also told me to preheat my pizza stone, which i have never done before, but i did and the result was outstanding. the crust cooked faster and was crisp and evenly cooked.
